For Ming

No, no that Ming - this Ming, the peace-loving clam who gave up his life, all 405 years of it, for science. On the face of it, the secret of long life would seem to be to do nothing. File under useless information.

  1. When they make a movie of this, I have a title: "The Silence of the Clams." Anthony Hopkins can star as Ming.

  2. Bit of a seafood theme, this week, Nige. First oysters, now clams. Any chance you'll be commenting on this terrible tale about scallops?

  3. Funny Chippy not mention his tiny winkle.

  4. Susan, I fear that would be overstretching Sir Anthony - it's years since he played anyone but Anthony Hopkins.
Chip, that scallop tale is deeply dispiriting - apart from anything else, a scallop shell is a thing of beauty (and a serviceable ashtray). Why don't they grind down shells for mortar, like they used to do with all the mussel shells?
    Gabby, how could you?

  5. Perfect Susan. Perfect. As Nige points out, It'll be a real challenge for Hopkins though.
